Fine Floor Coverings Since 1921
To Paulson's, "Green Flooring" means recommending Earth-friendly products, taking action to be environmentally responsible and partnering with companies that share similar goals. Here are some examples:
We send used carpet, pad, wood products, metal, cardboard and paper products to recycling centers instead of dumping them into landfills.
We offer choices of carpet made from recycled products and materials. Nylon 6 can be recycled and used to make carpet and other products again and again. Some other post-consumer recycled materials such as soda-pop bottles can also be used in the production of new carpet that looks great and feels soft.
Linoleum is one of the most historied of environmentally friendly flooring products. Not to be confused with vinyl, linoleum is made from linseed oil, wood or cork powder, ground limestone and resins with a backing made of jute, canvas or burlap and was invented in the mid-1800's. Paulson's has sold and installed linoleum flooring since 1921.
Alternative flooring products made with quickly renewable resources such as bamboo and cork are becoming quite popular. There are some varieties of bamboo that can grow up to three feet per day, so it renews quickly, yet is a very tough material with beautiful patterns that make a nice floor accent and can be used with radiant heat that would cause many standard hardwood flooring products to crack or split. Cork is the bark of the Cork Oak trees predominantly grown in Portugal. The bark is harvested roughly every nine years and the first couple of harvests from new trees is not suitable for bottle stoppers so they used to be wasted, but now they are used in beautiful flooring products in a variety of shades, grains and styles.
We carry engineered hardwood flooring products made with recycled material in the structural core so they use fewer new resources.
We work with builders to place these earth-friendly products into new home construction projects.
